SkinVue 64-bit Platform Support

From Dave Burdick:

A couple of quick updates on the subject of 64-bit platform support for SkinVue.

For current SkinVue 6 PC users, you can download a multi-platform wxPython installer here in order to install either the 32-bit or 64-bit version of wxPython into your main Vue application folder:

http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?zzitjgoormh

This will allow you to run SkinVue6 on 64-bit PC platforms.

For the upcoming SkinVue7, 64-bit support is already built in to the product so there is no need to download the additional wxPython library.

E-on Software News - October 17, 2008

Hot on the heals of the Press Release about Vue 7 earlier tonight comes the latest e-on software newsletter.

  • Vue 7 Product Lineup

Introducing Vue 7 Pioneer and Vue 7 Complete

October 17, 2008. Beaverton, Oregon: e-on software, makers of Vue, the leading solution for natural 3D environments announces two new entries in the Vue product lineup, Vue 7 Complete and Vue 7 Pioneer.

Introducing Vue 7 Complete:

"Our market research showed that, among independent users who were purchasing our professional solutions, many were doing so for a limited number of highly desirable features, such as, for instance, EcoSystem painting and wind effects. However, other production or workflow oriented features – that they were paying for – were of lesser interest to them", said Nicholas Phelps, president of e-on software.

Phelps adds: "This is why we decided to add Vue 7 Complete to the Vue line. This version of Vue, specifically designed for expert 3D artists and small studios, represents a cost-effective alternative to Vue Infinite".

The following features (among many others) are now available out of the box in Vue 7 Complete: wind and breeze effects, ventilators, EcoSystem painting, 3D export, etc.

A detailed feature list and more information will be made available soon.

Vue 7 Pioneer and Vue 7 Bundles:

Vue 7 Pioneer is the new entry-level version of Vue. Vue 7 Pioneer supersedes the former Vue Easel.

Newcomers to 3D and casual artists will find in Vue 7 Pioneer all the landscape-creation tools they need to easily create and render amazing images of their own 3D worlds. Vue 7 Pioneer is the perfect introduction to the world of 3D.

Vue 7 Pioneer can be extended with a number of independent modules that add specific functionality to the base product.

"We decided to extend our modular approach, because it is a nice way of letting users build the 3D product that best fits their requirements and budget, then gradually add features as their level of proficiency increases", said Nicholas Phelps.

By adding modules, users can progressively upgrade all the way from Pioneer up to Complete. Esprit, Pro Studio and Complete represent pre-bundled, cost-effective alternatives to the modular approach of Pioneer.

Vue Product Lineup:

The Vue 7 line of products is distributed in 2 sub-lines:

  • Vue for 3D Artists and Small Studios, now comprised of Vue 7 Pioneer, Vue 7 Esprit, Vue 7 Pro Studio and Vue 7 Complete.

3D World 110 and Vue

It took me a bit longer than usual to get hold of the new issue of 3D World (Issue 110 - December 2008) which is now on sale in the UK. The only Vue related content this month is the advert above. You can click the image to see a larger version of my not very good scan of the advert. One little interesting point is the web site address at the bottom right - www.vue7.com which goes to a holding page at the moment.

Create Digital Backgrounds with Vue Tutorial

This tutorial is a little different. A two part tutorial on using Vue to create backdrops for portrait photographs which is something I experimented with when I first started using Vue so I found it interesting to see what someone else had achieved with Vue 6. Part 1 and Part 2 are both now available at the Digital Image Magazine web site and while it is designed to be done using Vue 6 Infinite or Vue 6 PLE most of the tutorial should work with any version of Vue.

Incredibly Lush Autumn Shrubs

I've just picked up Incredibly Lush Autumn Shrubs for Vue, Linda Daireaux's latest plant pack at Cornucopia 3D. This pack is small but perfectly formed including four colourful plants: Viburnum, Puncia Granatum, Nadina Domestica and two different varieties of Ozakazuki Japanese Maple. While the pack is an add-on for the updated Incredibly Lush Garden Bushes it can be used without owning the Garden Bushes pack. Another great addition to Vue created by Linda Daireaux and its on sale for only $2.99 at the moment too!
